Co-written with Lee Tucker, Schott’s partner in the Nashville Nights Organization, “The Clown” pairs a Bakersfield-inspired shuffle with sawing fiddle, crying steel guitar, and Schott’s soulful, emotionally charged vocals. The result is a classic-country sound that balances the song’s heartbreak with an upbeat, danceable energy.
Schott states, “This song reminds me, and I hope it’ll remind others, of the kind of country music that I love, and the kind that I’m trying to bring back.”
